Not much to say. Too busy. Doc and I are about to finish our collaborative script for the finale of season 4.2 and I'm literally on my way out the door to the final sound mix for the last episode of season 4.1.

As such I will soon be blessedly free from writing and post-production duties for a while. Looking forward to just being a director for the next several months--still a difficult, full-time job, but at least it's not three difficult, full-time jobs on top of each other.

I did want to say that tonight's episode is really really good, though. Probably my favorite of Doc's scripts in these first eight episodes. Much to enjoy in it, on the biggest and smallest of scales. And if you're not finally converted to Sgt. Hatred by this one, then you're never ever going to like the poor lug.

P.S. Two small items my perusal of various message boards these past few weeks compels me to comment upon:

1. Captain Sunshine = NOT an actual pedophile.

2. Brock's absence has nothing to do with Patrick Warburton. He didn't ask for more money, he's not too busy for us, he hasn't refused to come back or anything of the sort. It was a creative choice on our part, and Brock WILL be back in the show at some point. Just not this week. Or next.

needless to say, the first disc was a mess of giggling nostalgia. we were both in bed, and this came on, and i rocked the fuck out

i kinda wanted to go silent last week until i got an update on the job. apparently "very soon" did not mean "less than a week" like i was unofficially told. friday i called under the pretense of thanking them for the interview, and they said "well, how did you know we were going to call you today! we actually wanted references!"

shoulda-given-that-already aside, i cant tell if this The Last Step, or if it is literally so close between me and some other guy that they're seeing who gushes the most.

monday might be the day.

but by now i've had to buy tickets to ohio and ny because prices were escalating. i told them i might be leaving early dec. at the first interview and they seemed fine about it and even thanked me for saying so at the second interview, but if they made me choose between trip and job anyway i'd privately wail about pissing away $500 and unquestionably take the job.

i didnt sell as many photos as i would have hoped to fund it, so now i'm hoping to sell enough by the end of november that my mode of food is not "wandering the snowy streets of NY looking for a dunkin donuts" like last time. it's not looking good. i think i got all that i could out of everyone.

thats another thing, despite lake tahoe being pretty damn close i dont think i've seen real snow in about 18 years. not only that, but having lived in a climate where anything below 32 is alarming, i'm about to know what it's like living in a place where the combined temperature and wind chill could bring it about 50 degrees below that. where weather will actually kill you. LOL. i dont even have the clothes for this i dont think. bringing layers and layers.

As I cleaned the toilet today, I thought about commercials for toilet cleaning products. "Gets rid of 99.9% of germs!" is the big boast these days. But I gotta say, that level of disinfectant seems to be way overkill to me.

Why does a toilet bowl have to be that clean? It's not like you're going to make soup in it. No, you're going to clean it, and then someone's going to take a shit in it, and then your 99.9% germ-free commode is no longer that way.

Sure, clean it. Don't let nasty stuff grow in there. Don't let it smell. But also realize it's a toilet for heaven's sake.

But pretty much any commercial for cleaning products pisses me off to begin with because we are still somehow living in the 1950's where only women do the chores and men just make more messes.

This is why I don't clean. :P

I was just writing Stanford's diversity statement. It gives me a 700 character limit to tell the admissions office how I will increase Stanford's diversity. Not 700 words, 700 characters. After writing a couple sentences about how I am a first-generation Mexican-American college student and how my interest in the sciences spans many disciplines, I thought about ending it with:

"Also, I have a green belt in Hapkido. I am literally kick-ass."

But I decided against it. I don't know how they would take that.
